This Lecture is about a model of treatment rhythm. This talk is a way of organizing my own understanding of treatment. It is based on reading and studying Still, Sutherland, Becker and Dr. Jealous. It is a model for the structure and process of treatment. And I offer it as ideas to perhaps better understand the process of treatment. For me, this model helps me stay on track and helps me better align with what is needed in a treatment. We are all in the practice. Maybe we are new to it. Maybe we've been at it for a long time and know that every treatment is unique and interesting.
There is no predetermined course of treatment, no formula. Maybe we are trying to remember the idea of beginner's mind, or we are trying and remembering to go with the flow. And we know that there is something to learn in the moment of a treatment. And yet there is a certain rhythm, a structure, a flow to the treatment. I will explore this rhythm with you. It is not about a fixed sequence of treatment or a prescription. It's about a model, a model of a form, a flow, a sequence that can take place in the treatment, a framework. And if we understand this framework, we may be more effective in our work and in our treatments.
